The next Mentimeter question shifted attention from past achievements to future ambitions. One theme clearly stood out: Therapy response.

Participants consistently wanted to better understand why treatments work for some people but not for others. Closely connected topics included biomarkers, personalised treatment, predicting responders and non-responders, disease mechanisms, prevention, pathways and endotypes. Remarkably, many of these priorities closely mirror the central ambitions of NGID itself.
Building on today’s knowledge
The audience was asked: "Building on the knowledge gained in NGID, what research question would you like to answer next?"
The responses shifted from understanding disease towards changing its future. The two most frequently mentioned ambitions were:
Participants also highlighted personalised treatment, identifying the root causes of disease, improving quality of life, earlier treatment, disease modification and the development of personalised skin models.
Together, these responses illustrate an important shift in perspective. While current research often focuses on understanding disease mechanisms and improving treatment selection, the audience challenged NGID to think even further ahead: towards preventing disease, modifying its course and, ultimately, achieving a cure.
